Spring Leaders and Wine Bottling

There's been lots of snow on the ground (10cms at Mittagundi!) to mark the end of a packed set Winter programs. Thanks to all the schools and vollies for making a great Winter possible. After a quick break we're back and straight into our Spring Programs.

Outdoor Leaders for the first two Spring Programs

We're looking for an extra set of hands to help out on the first two Spring Programs for the walk in and walk out. If you have Outdoor Ed qualifications and experience we'd love to hear from you. Whether it's just one of the walks or all of them any help is very much appreciated. Please help us spread the word and forward to your mates.

Wine Bottling

Every year the wonderful Pizzini Family winery donate some fabulous wine for us to sell to our supporters. This is one of our major fundraisers and helps us to keep Mittagundi operating. Don't miss this opportunity to buy quality wine and feel great about it!

It takes a few hands to help pack all the wine so if you are going to be around Wangaratta on the Saturday, 18th of September feel free to come to the wine bottling. A light BBQ lunch and sampling provided from 2pm.

The HOP! is tomorrow

Melbourne 'Meet the Crew' Night

The Mittagundi team are coming down from the hills to the big smoke to say hi. Come and have dinner, trade stories and meet or reconnect with the awesome 2010 crew. See how much hairier they have become. All welcome.

The Hop

Every year in middle of winter a group of passionate supporters and curious onlookers gather at the rustic barn at the Collingwood Children's Farm for a night of fun and dancing.

Why? To raise funds so that Wollangarra and Mittagundi can continue providing amazing experiences for Young People in the outdoors.

Its is a great opportunity to catch up with the amazing Melbourne based Wollangarra and Mittagundi Community. Loads of bands, food stall, full bar plus delicious mulled wine.

Where: Collingwood Children's Farm, 18 St Heliers St, Abbotsford.
When: 7pm, Saturday 26th of June

Winter Volunteers for August

Winter is an especially busy time at Mittagundi. We run action packed ski programs and need extra hands on deck. It's a great opportunity for those curious to see a program in action to come up and help out. You don't need any special skills, however if you are an Outdoor Ed/ Rec student we would be especially excited to hear from you.

We still have some spots available for August so if you are interested give Jac a call on 03 5159 7238.

March Update

Big Thanks! 

The response from the last newsletter was amazing. We filled programs and got some fantastic helpers to run them so a BIG THANKS to all of you who helped spread the word. We really appreciate it! 

Program News

Its all go at Mittagundi at the moment. Back to back programs all the way up to the end of May. The May programs are nearly full, however we still have a few places left in our April programs. 

We have places available on our:

Girls Course 371 (2nd April - 11th April) 
Boys Course 372 (16th - 25th April)

So if you're a young person keen for a new experience or know of any young person ready for the opportunites at Mittagundi send them our way.

Position Available - Program Manager

We're looking of a skilled Outdoor Ed'er to join our team. This position is designed for a person with solid outdoor and group leading experience. The key responsibilities are to support the Director in all Program related duties and team management. It's a great opportunity to continue your professional development at Mittagundi would be invaluable to the right professional outdoor educator.

Sometimes Melbourne can feel like a long way away from Mittagundi so we're getting the community together in Melbourne!

Job Available - Fast Start! - Sessional Outdoor Leaders

Mittagundi is looking for Sessional Outdoor Leaders with great skills and experience to fill positions on the coming 9 day programs.

Update: All these positions have been filled. Thanks to all who helped spread the word! 

The dates that we need Leaders for are:

Girls Program 369 25th February - 7th March - filled
Boys Program 370 11th March - 21st March
Girls Program 371 1st April - 11th April
Boys Program 372 16th April - 25th April - Already filled
Girls Program 373 29th April - 9th May
Boys Program 374 14th May - 23th May - Already filled

You are welcome to apply for one program or for all of them.

It is a great opportunity come to the picturesque Glen Valley and see Mittagundi renowned 9 day programs in action.

Young People: Girls Course 369 and Boys Course 370 - Places open!

2010 has kicked off at Mittagundi with the new happy and busy leaders looking forward to the fun and challenging nine day courses to begin! 

We have places available on our Girls Course 369 (Fri 26th of Feb to Sun 7th March) and Boys Course 370 (Fri 12th March to Sun 21st March). Employment: One chance left to be part of Mittagundi in 2010

Mittagundi is looking for one more leader to join our exciting and inspiring team in 2010. To compliment our existing skills and strengths we are searching for the right person with previous experience or qualifications in outdoor leading, education or recreation. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates to gain meaningful experiences with young people and intensive training in a community/youth based outdoor education centre where people are the most important thing. Winter Leader position - July and August
Mittagundi also has a 'Winter Leader' position opening for the months of July and August for an outdoor leader with cross country skiing and snow camping experience. Mittagundi Open Weekend January 15th to 17th

Once a year we invite the entire Mittagundi community to come and stay for a fun weekend of activities and catch ups.

Starting with a Bush Dance at the Glen Valley Hall on the Friday night and continuing through Saturday and Sunday with pioneer skills demonstrations, lots of fun and games, and a big roast on the Saturday night.

This year is extra special as pioneer skills also marks the handover of the Directors. We will be celebrating the contribution of Jack and
Faith over 3 years as Directors and welcoming our new Director Jacqui, and her team.

Annoucing our new Director! - Congratulations Jacqui Semmler

After a search spanning the country we have found a new Director to lead Mittagundi from the start of 2010.
Directing Mittagundi is an exciting, challenging and at times exhausting experience and we wish Jacquie all the best for her three year journey.

It is customary at Mittagundi to employ two directors at a time and so we are on the hunt for an inspiring co-director to work with Jacqui. 

If you know anyone who has a passion for leading young people through challenging programs in the beautiful Victorian bush and the skills and experience to be a valuable part of the team please send them this way!

Directions

From Wangaratta take the Oxley Flats road (initially Faithful St then Wilson Road) out of Wangaratta. Turn left onto the Snow Road (Glenrowan – Myrtleford Road) after approx. 16km. Proceed along snow road for approx 7km. Turn right into Illawong Road. After 300m veer right into Yarrabee Road. After 1.93km you will come to 3 letterboxes on your left, the first has 193 on it. Park the car here and walk 200 metres down to the house. If geographical embarrassment occurs, ring 5727 0527. LIGHT BARBECUE LUNCH AND SAMPLING PROVIDED FROM 1 PM.
